KEY REHABILITATION PROGRAMME It is our aim to help service users deal with the underlying roots of addictive behaviour and to make a planned re-integration into society, confident and equipped with the necessary personal & practical skills to maintain recovery and sobriety. Over the past 20 years, our experience has shown that rehabilitation and training need to go hand in hand. Our programme is designed to fulfill a vision of unlocking people and releasing potential, by enabling the service user to achieve recovery, find employment, and live independent lifestyles. To achieve this aim we have developed a 2-stage programme, with a duration of 50 weeks (detox, if required, is in addition to this 50 weeks). DETOXIFICATION As of mid 2010, our detox unit will be purpose built to provide a comfortable and safe space to detox from drugs and/or alcohol. When clients arrive, they will be greeted by one of the nurses and the community Doctor, who is a specialist in substance misuse psychiatry. Up until mid 2010, Key operates a system similar to home detoxification, where the service user's current GP or agency must prescribe the medication they need for detox, and bring the prescription with them. We have an on site qualified nurse, plus staff who are trained in dispensing medication. Please contact us if you require more information. PHASE 1 (30 weeks) During this time service users will attend weekly assessments and individual groups, designed to promote trust and relationship skills. Service users will be engaged in Genesis counselling through the Genesis relapse prevention workbook, and skills training - creating a personal portfolio of skills, CV and certificated achievements. One of the key elements of this course is completion of a relapse prevention course, which involves understanding and coming to terms with the root of the student's addictive behaviour. This involves group therapy including: Twelve Steps; Gilead Community Meetings; One-to-one counselling; Accredited Practical skills training; Spiritual growth meetings; Study time and support time. Personal development training will also be involved, along with a range of life skills training, such as numeracy, literacy and IT skills. See the Service user guide link below for more detailed information of this course. They will also be offered NVQ and land based skills training by personal choice and capability. Service users will be encouraged to build external relationships and attend accountability group. They will be entitled to home leave during this time - enabling them to restore broken family relationships. PHASE 2 - Resettlement (20 weeks) Service users will be encouraged to live independent lifestyles, whilst still within a structured environment, and they will be encouraged to seek out employment opportunities, new accommodation, and support. They will be able to take on either part time or voluntary work whilst still residing at Risdon Farm - working in the locality and returning to the site during the evening. Service users have the opportunity to remain at Gilead as part of the community, and if suitable, will be offered work in the businesses of Risdon Enterprises which is a social enterprise, working with Gilead Foundations Charity. Please see the Service User Guide for more detailed information
